Harper Lee's first few pages of To Kill a Mocking Bird create mystery and intrigue. It isn't until after the first few pages that we begin to learn what is actually happening in the story. The start of To Kill a Mocking Bird draws you into the book which keeps you interested and introduces the innocence of the children, the innocence which is later violated in the story. I think the beginning of TKAMB is a very good one as it instantly makes you want to read the next page.
